IS 2003 REALLY 1984?

Considering what I hear and read these days in the media with respect to, "Christianity", "Gambling", "The Lottery", "Freedom of Speech", "Tolerance," "Choice", etc. I went to a website, (www.gerenser.com/1984/) and reviewed George Orwell's prophetic nightmarish book, "1984". A vision of what the world might become.  I believe that one of the greatest gifts given to man by our creator was "A Free Will" and I praise God we live in a country where we are free to express ourselves.  However, with freedom comes responsibility and accountability.  Today we seem to be redefining words to justify our evolving culture and we seem to be passing laws to support and enforce our "newspeak", "doublethink", and "thought crimes".  It even appears at times that our teachers, ministers, and public servants have taken it upon themselves to be "Thought Police". Consider the following:

We have ridiculed truth and called it Pluralism
We have confused justice with fairness
We have exploited the poor and called it gambling.
We have nullified the Bible and called it "Christianity"
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it
freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it

(Isaiah 5:20)  "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"  What if the Bible is true?
